Pass Plus Course
You can take a Pass Plus course at any time,

Even after you've passed your test and been awarded your license, you can take extra Pass Plus lessons to improve your driving.
Once you have passed your test you are safe to drive on the roads unaccompanied. But you must remember that you are an inexperienced driver.
Statistics show that new drivers are around 10 times more likely to be involved in an accident and regrettably, two drivers under the age of 25 die every day in crashes in the UK

What does Pass Plus cover?
Pass Plus pupils have a series of six modules of at least one hour each. These cover:
1. In town
This covers driving around complex junctions, keeping space around your car, considering vulnerable road users and increasing observation, judgement and awareness in built up areas.
2. Rural roads
this module takes place in country roads, focusing on safe overtaking skills around slow moving vehicles and horses. It also teaches you to traverse sharp bends, hills, narrow and uneven roads while staying safe.
3. All weathers
you will learn how to drive appropriately in rain, sleet, snow, fog and bright sunshine here. The module also focuses on how to cope with skidding and aquaplaning.
4. Night driving
This will give you the many skills of driving in the dark, including which lights to use in different situations, how to cope with dazzle and hard-to-see road users, how to keep your lights in check and night-time parking issues.
5. Dual carriageways
this lesson will teach you how to join and leave a dual carriageway effectively, leave a safe distance between other cars, observe and overtake correctly, plan ahead and use speed properly.
6. Motorways
the final and probably most important part of Pass Plus - this is the area many drivers lack confidence in after passing their practical test. It covers all aspects of safe motorway driving, from slip roads to signals, fatigue to breakdown procedures, and overtaking to lane discipline.
There is no test at the end of these modules, but you'll be continually assessed and must reach an accepted standard of driving.
You will be graded with an achieved or exceeded standard for each module you pass.
While you will have covered most of these topics during your driving lessons the Pass Plus course emphasises a positive approach to driving. The focus is on attitude and skills and gives a different perspective on these topics and will enhance your abilities.
Pass Plus results
As an indication of the effectiveness of the scheme, recent survey carried out for the Driving Standards Agency showed that 93% of people who had taken Pass Plus felt more confident on the road, and 80% considered that their driving skills had improved as a result of taking the course.
Discounts on car insurance
When you successfully complete a PASS PLUS driving course you will usually qualify for a substantial discount on your car insurance policy.
This can often be a considerable sum and the saving on your motor insurance could easily pay for your pass plus training.
